Each of these seminars focuses on specific body structures and segments and their functions and possible acute and chronic complaints. They look forward to showing you how you can easily incorporate Deep Bodywork into your existing bodywork practice! \nAdvanced Back-work: Working with Acute and Chronic Pain\nDealing with acute and chronic pain of the back is one of the most common\, if not the most common\, issue facing massage and bodywork practitioners. Providing our clients with both immediate as well as long-term relief from back pain is one of the most valuable services we can offer. Learning to do this while taking care of our own bodies and remaining injury free is the goal of this seminar. We will teach you\, optimal body mechanics\, allowing you to work with gravity instead of using muscle strength so that you can work effectively with less effort. \nSome of the important soft tissue structures we will learn to work with are the erector spinae muscles\, quadratus lumborum\, psoas\, piriformis\, and deeper intrinsic muscles surrounding and stabilizing the spine. You will learn to work with clients lying prone\, supine\, and in the side-lying posture. \nDeep Bodywork is a presence-based approach designed to engage our clients’ innate capacities to self-organize and heal. The most common theme we teach our students is the value of slowing down and giving our clients’ nervous systems a chance to “work with our work” from the inside. DESCRIPTION:Register Now! \n\nJanuary 10–15\, 2027\n\nPerry Holloman and Johanna Holloman\nFor exact Date and Time details\, visit the Register button link above.\n \n\nAbout this workshop\nDeep Bodywork®\, when applied with great sensitivity\, is one of the most effective healing modalities available to the professional bodyworker. It combines the integrating qualities of flowing massage with therapeutic deep tissue work to promote relaxation\, restore tissue health\, and support long-term structural change. Developed by the Hollomans over the course of 40 years\, the form emerged from the knowledge brought to and created at Esalen in the ’60s and ’70s by early bodywork masters. \nThrough Deep Bodywork techniques\, practitioners can enter the deeper soft tissue layers\, freeing previously dense\, hardened areas that may be chronically painful due to a lack of fluid exchange and energy flow. As these areas soften and “re-organize\,” chronic tension patterns release\, revitalizing living tissues with blood\, lymph\, and chi (life) energy. \nWith a clear curriculum and moves designed for easy integration into any practice\, we’ll focus on intermediate and advanced deep tissue techniques blended with Esalen® Massage to enhance the therapeutic skills of practicing bodyworkers\, including massage therapists\, acupuncturists\, physiotherapists\, and chiropractors. We will learn effective Deep Bodywork techniques on the entire body\, integrating them with the presence-based long strokes characteristic of Esalen Massage. This creates a powerful blend of structural change and pain management with deep relaxation and integration. \nEmphasis will be placed on proper body mechanics so practitioners can learn to work with a sense of inner ease and avoid placing unnecessary stress on their own bodies. We’ll also explore how these techniques can complement other healing modalities in the treatment of soft tissue pain for a multidisciplinary approach to pain relief and functional restoration.
